Your tax return has been received and is being processed.?

Asked by: megan 7329 views YA Discussion

The WMR site kept telling me that my refund is suppose to be DD on Feb 13th, and when I got on to check it today (Feb 12th 6:05 P.M.). It changed to “Your tax return has been received and is being processed.”, why is this happening to me? I filed Feb 1st and it was finally accepted Feb 10th. Can someone please help me understand?

How others found here:

  • return has been received and is being processed
  • irs received and processing
  • my tax refund has been received and is being processed

I have the same message and I filed on the 24th on January. First I had a message saying that my return was being processed and I should receive my refund on or before the 7th of February. I got worried and ended up calling the taxpayers advocate line on Thursday and spoke to a rep who put me on hold so she could look through my information then she stated it was already processed and I would receive a DD on 2/13. Ironically, after I spoke to her my status updated on WMR reflecting what the rep told me and has given me the message with a for sure DD ever since (I honestly feel like she must have did something in the system to propel the status update). Now, today it changed to the same message you’re seeing. It’s so frustrating because I was really counting on that money to pay my utilities bills, buy my baby some necessities and so forth and sucks even more because it is Sunday and no government agencies whom we can call are open!!!!! I just want my money :(

P.S. Some people are saying that message means your funds have already been released to your bank and you should be receiving it the next day or so….And others say it means your refund has been spit back out because of errors or further processing…BLAH, BLAH, BLAH…But I wouldn’t go by hearsay because there are a million different answers and I don’t know whom to believe….Guess we’ll have to wait and see….Update us on your progress please!!!

    GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS!

The IRS is having issues with their WMR messages. They’re working on getting it resolved. At least that’s what their WMR site is saying now.

Mine was the same thing. Said my date for deposit was the 13th then I got that message today. I can only think with it happening to so many people it is just an update that the funds are being released. Will wait any updates would be awesome ^^ Just kind of nice to know I am not the only one.

Simply it means you are NOT getting a refund on the date you expect. I had the same message, and if for any reason it does not follow the normal process, this message will appear. The cause: IRS using 2 different systems and causing your tax data to get stalled in the process. When they tell you it’s in the error department, they will advise you that you will be receiving a letter within two weeks. All this is double speak. Your tax return is in some department somewhere, and yes it could very well be in the error departement. HOWEVER, this does not mean you made an error(and small errors are normally corrected and refunds will be sent anyways with a letter of explanation offering you the opportunity to agree or appeal their decision) The error department handles all types of errors including problems with them verifying the social security numbers on your returns due to a communication error with the Social Security Admin(because of the system change) tax records accidentally getting merged and they have to sort out whose data is whose data(this is my current case), and simply the system flagging your return because some number was larger than expected based on prior years returns and they are manually checking it. My best information is stating that a record number of returns are ending up in the errors department because of the new system change and further tightening of anti fraud software.

Porchak, Did you ever receive your refund? I filed on 3/10/12 and got the following from WMR….We have received your tax return and it is being processed. Your expected refund date has been changed due to processing delays. You should get your refund by may 1, 2012.
Seems to me that 6 weeks is rather long to wait but i guess they are having problems with software.
    any opinions?

@ Gene Geary, I AM IN THE SAME BOAT! I too filed aroud that SAME DATE and originally too had a DD date then CHANGED to MAY 1, 2012 with the SAME emplination. Today being MAY 1ST, I naturally checked the status and NOW it only says:
“Your tax return has been received and is being processed.:”
Have you had any luck and received your return? I am BEYOND FRUSTRATED at this point
