When will I get my w2 by? And say I filed that day or the day after, how long does it take to receive the money?

Employers are required to provide W2’s by end of January. As long as it is postmarked by 1/31/13, your employer is in the clear. If you haven’t received your W2 by a reasonable date in February – by 2/5 for example – let your HR department know you haven’t received it.
If you still don’t receive it, and if you suspect something is going on, you can report your employer to the IRS.

W-2 forms are required to be MAILED not later than January 31. You MIGHT get your W-2 earlier, but it is not a requirement. You cannot file this year until January 30 anyway. If you “e-file” you can expect your refund in two weeks or so.

They are legally required to get it to you by the end of the month.
If you file early, you can get your money in a couple of weeks, unless there is a problem with your return. The later you file, the longer it can take. Go for direct deposit to get it the fastest way.

You’ll get your W-2 when you get it. Nobody can say when that might be.
Employers are supposed to have them in the mail to you by Jan 31, but they are not considered late until Feb 15 to allow for mailing time.
The IRS no longer posts a refund schedule. They only say that 90% all taxpayers should have their refunds within 21 days if they e-file and opt for direct deposit of their refund into their bank account.
