When does IRS release funds?

Asked by: livingeditor 1554 views YA Discussion

So I just got off the phone with my bank. They told me they post deposits anytime from midnight to 7am. But in order for my refund to be available Wednesday, the funds would have to be released by the IRS before the close of business today. Is this what the IRS does? And could it be possible that people got their refunds days early because their banks put them in as they come in instead of holding them all til the end of the day? I bank with BOA and have a DD date of tomorrow, 2/8. Just trying to get a better understanding of how this all works. Negative comments can be kept to yourselves. I’m a smart individual and just looking for advice from people who’ve dealt with this before. Thanks!

The MeF system kicks out refunds around the clock 24 x 7 x 365. Most returns are processed on the MeF system this year.
