What’s better, TurboTax or TaxACT?

Asked by: flash 2356 views YA Discussion

I am trying to find something bad in one of them to make my choice easier. Yeah. I just don’t know which one to use. Oh and i have two W-2 forms so do i need to file them separately. Yeah, last year I had someone file my taxes for me so now I am too new at this and honestly, it is freaking me out.

How others found here:

  • which is better turbo tax or tax act
  • turbo tax or tax act
  • taxact or turbotax

I just tried Turbo tax and it’s telling me I only get 1/3 of what all reason and common sense says I should get back…. But I’m new too so WHO knows

You file both w-2 forms on the same tax return.

I have used both turbo tax and tax act. I prefer turbo tax. I find it easier to use because of the way it asks questions and has little links to explain what each thing is if you aren’t sure about it. When I used tax act, I felt like it wasn’t as easy to use because the year I used it, it didn’t guide me through the process the way turbo tax does. I felt like I had to know more to use tax act. (I had to know which links to click to enter the forms I needed filled out.) I haven’t used tax act in a few years, so it may be better now. I will continue to use turbo tax.

I am adding an edit because I just seen the previous answer. I have never felt like turbo tax shorted my refund. It has always seemed like the right amount for my situation. Turbo tax will let you start the return for free and you don’t pay unless you actually file the return from their site. I think tax act is the same way, so you could enter your information on both sites and see the difference, if any. Then file the tax return from the site you like and delete the information from the site you didn’t like.
