What will happen if I filed my tax return twice by accident!!?

Asked by: megan 1092 views YA Discussion

I just filed my property tax refund and my federal/state today, but I just remembered I might have already filed my federal/state way back in April but I’m not sure!! What’s going to happen if I did?!!

How others found here:

  • filed the same tax return twice
  • what happen if you accidently file your fedral tax return twice
  • what if you accidentally file two tax returns?

if you filed in April you must not have kept a copy or you would have known if you were due a refund and received it, or perhaps you owed money and you need to check your check book to see if you paid it
if you did file twice, the IRS will probably reject the second if it wasn’t a 1040X, more than likely they will return it to you with a request for an explanation

No problem – if you already filed, this second one would be rejected.
