    code 9001
it is being reviewed for one of the following reasons
    1. income reported on the return
    2. income tax withholding amounts
    3. claims for tax credit made
    4. business income reported on the return

**** Yes, you CAN only log into the WMR site so many times per day then it will lock you out…but it just tells you no information is available, it will not give you the 9001 code. That code only appears when there is It is an error they have found. Please use the number provided below and call them on Monday. ****

My taxes were also accepted on the 30th. First delayed for identity theft..whatever, then I had to resend my tax forms…4 months later and now, its almost june and I have a code 9001. Don’t know if I’ll ever get a refund this year. I hope its accumulating interest for me.

How many times have you checked? That code means 9001 Taxpayer accessed Refund Status using a secondary TIN. Refund Status could not be returned.

WMR site is broken a lot. Call the refund hotline at 800-829-1954 and see what it says about your status.

My taxes were also accepted on the 30th and my date given was the 14th and now I have code 9001. Believe me you are not alone!! I have found several blogs with people who were accepted on the 30th who have the same error. I was told by IRS that the code meant we did not have a date for payment as of yet and to check back on Wednesday 2/8/12. I hope this helps. I am still looking for other IRS explainations.

I just called and was told that their system is down. They update each Wednesday and to check back tomorrow. Also, she told me numerous times that it may take up to 3 weeks to receive refund. Filed my taxes electronically on the 31st it was accepted and then I checked on the 1st and it said I should receive direct deposit on 2/11/12. Not sure if that will change since the system is down right now. The woman also said they were swamped with refunds at the end of January and she thinks that has something to do with this as well.

Same thing for me. Filed late night on 1/31 hoping to get in the 2/8 deposit batch, it was accepted early morning 2/1 but it said 2/15 deposit date. Refund status kept saying not available, then yesterday it had a code 9001. Tried to call but wait times were outrageous. Will see if it updates tomorrow. Would love to see the funds tomorrow, but the 15th is fine. Just want to see something definitive on the IRS website.

No information on refund available at this time. Same thing, code 9001. Talked with IRS and she said federal taxes being reviewed as there is a lot of identity theft going on right now. From what I am reading no one else has been told this answer. Anyway, she said could take an extra week. Anyone else have this problem?

Update… mine finally shows a date… 2/21. Guess they are serious with the 3 weeks, so ignore the “as fast as 7 days” that they advertise. Mine should have slid in last minute for the 2/8 deposit, but the email from taxact said 2/15, now IRS site (was having 9001 error) says 2/21. come on uncle sam… how hard is it to wire my $$$$

Having the same issue as everyone else. I filed my taxes early in the morning on Jan 31st, and received an email stating that IRS accepted my return. On Thursday 2/2 the websiten stated that I should receive my return by 2/14, however, on Monday 2/6 I received a 9001 code. IRS states that itn means they are processing the return, but as of today I still have the same 9001 code, with no changes. Not sure what is really going on. When you read on the internet, there are several different opinions as to what that really means. I would suggest calling IRS at different times to see if you receive the same explanantion. If anyone hears anything different, please let me know.

I filed my taxes late 1/30 and received a text message alert from H&R Block within 30 minutes telling me that my refund had been accepted by the IRS. I have not been given an estimated refund date yet! I have logged onto the WMR site once a day since I filed and it has remained a 9001 code. I just want to know what is going on! I was relying on my refund, that is why I filed early!

i am getting the same 9001 result and I am not sure why? My wife told me she looked to see if there was a date on the irs website and she used her ss #. Since then, there has been that 9001 message. Im not sure if it is a coincidence or not. I guess I am going to have to call them….I tried once, but was on hold for about a half hour and gave up. Anybody have any ideas???

Same thing, accepted on the 2nd of Feb always says no information available at this time. Called IRS as it says reference code 9001. IRS told me it is being reviewed as there is a lot of identity theft right now so many are getting reviewed. I haven’t read anyone else stating that answer given. She said it could take an extra week. Anyone else been told this?

Yes, they are very serious now about the 3 weeks (10-21 days) due to a identity theft program that is screening if not all, the majority of the taxes that are processed. Doesn’t make us too happy, as the system should have said this in the beginning; we appreciate the indentity piece…but we would appreciate our $$$$ too. I filed on 2/5, was told 2/17 for refund, now as of today, I am being told by the 26th; keeping my fingers, eyes and feet crossed, the funds will be DD by 2/24. Makes me feel better, I’m in the same boat as you all.

My return was accepted by the Federal IRS on 1/27/12 and I have never been given an estimated date of receiving my refund. I am only getting the reference number 9001. It has been four weeks now and still nothing has changed. It was a simple return with no major deductions, just the standard deductions. There is nothing for them to review. I can’t seem to get anyone on the phone to give me answers. When I call I usually get disconnected. Very confusing. Please, give me any information you may have as what to expect

My return was accepted on Jan. 28th, 2012 (Turbo Tax e-file). A letter was sent to me dated Feb. 27th, 2012 stating my return was under further review and if I don’t receive my refund within 60 days, give them a call. I just called this morning (March 2) to see what “further review” meant and the IRS rep basically said it was randomly chosen for further review for accuracy. I told her about the code 9001 when I checked WMR, and she said that was an error that should have been fixed. She said that code was for married couples filing jointly using each others ss number to check on the return (I guess putting secondary ss would allow code to come up). Anyways, she also said they’re not asking for any more information at this time so don’t send anything in. And that everything should be okay. Hope this helps. I’ll try to update if and when I receive my refund.
