What do the symbols on my Walmart receipt mean? Taxed items…?

Asked by: megan 4305 views YA Discussion

I’m trying to figure out which items are being taxed and which aren’t. I bought my items in Iowa, where certain food items are not taxed.

Some of the items on my receipt have “0” next to them, which I assume means no tax. However, other items have “T”, “N”, and “X”. What do these mean?

I notice on my bill that food bought at the Walmart deli is taxed.

I noticed that Walmart does charge a tax on food if it bought at the deli.
Also noticed hike in prices all around the store, mostly food.
