Tax refund over 21 days, still no money!!!?

Asked by: Long 527 views YA Discussion

I should have received my tax refund today, as it was exactly 21 days from when the IRS accepted it. I had the educational tax credit, so the IRS didn’t except my return until February 14th. At that time the IRS told me it would take 21 days. I called the IRS today and they told me I will receive a notice in the mail soon and I have to respond, then it would take up to 4 weeks. She said it isn’t an audit. What is going on???? Does anyone else have this issue????
For those of you that need to speak with someone at the IRS, call 1-800-829-1040 then press the # for your language then press 00000. It will take you to a live person.

I feel better that I’m not the only one with this issue, but does anyone think this is because of the government buget cuts? It’s OUR MONEY, so I don’t understand why they make us continue paying taxes but they can take their good ‘ole time.

WOW I filed on the 31th with H&R with education credits for myself & my son, accepted on the 15th, has been saying processing since the beginning with the first stage of the 3, about 2/3 days ago it changed to “A refund date will be provided when available”. I do have a coworker that had education credit for 2 kids and she filed on the weekend of Feb 23th & received her direct deposit refund on Tuesday the 5th, early in the morning. So confused! Seems people that filed early are being held up. Not sure if it was because my first year claiming the education credit or not. But wasn’t her first year. My 21 days will be up tomorrow but seriously doubt i’ll have a refund in the morning. And yes several others having issues. Guess i’ll be calling tomorrow

It seems as if they give everyone a different answer. I called today as well, and they told me that there was a delay with the education credits and that it would be 2-3 more week (I filed on the 30th of Jan and wasnt accepted until Feb 14th because of the credit). She put me on a 3 min hold(kinda suspicious right?) and then said its in processing and it will be a few more weeks. Then she asked if I had received a letter, which I haven’t, and just said to wait a few more weeks. I asked if there were any errors or anything and she said no. So Idk what the heck is really the right answer. Lol.

Yes we have this issue, but have not been able to call to talk to A PERSON. All I can get is a recording! I am calling 1-800-829-1040. Please: POST the number and the prompts you are following to get to a person. We filed exactly same time you did. Good luck! Please tell me what number you are calling and what prompts.

The 21 days was an ESTIMATE. Not a guarantee of when you would have it.

They are asking you to prove something you claimed.

18008291040 keep pushing 0 after u choose your language , it took 35 min on hold for me , u should get a letter then follow instructions , I hear there’s an error on the form if u filed before feb 15 , be sure to have your 1098t n form 8863 ready to be faxed to IRS while u wait for this letter
