That is the standard response that the IRS gives to everyone at first.

The message you received is that the IRS has received your return but they won’t finish processing it until Friday, January 31, when the IRS offices officially open. You should receive word possibly on that day whether the IRS has accepted your return.

Topic 152 is information that everyone receives, nothing to worry about. Since your return has been accepted, I am almost positive that you will receive your refund by the first week of February if all goes well. Some say that the IRS isn’t going to do anything to it until the 31st. However, the IRS also stated that they were not going to accepting any returns until the 31st and that came to be false information. So…

YES very false information the same as it was for the last tax filing season of 2013 for the 2012 tax year. So where do we go from here possible REFUND during the first week to 10 days after the IRS stated start date of January 31 2014 for this purpose and time in our lives.
Hope that you find the above enclosed information useful. 01/28/2014

The IRS will not accept any return before 1/31. Although you have submitted it before that date it will simply stay on the IRS servers until then and be processed in the order it was received. So your refund will not come until 10-21 days from 1/31. The IRS processing is always extremely heavy the first 2-3 weeks so do not attempt to call the IRS about delays until after the 21 days otherwise you will frustrate yourself because you will either get the runaround or no response at all. And if you happen to reach a phone rep they will recite your exactly “where’s my refund” status which is “it is being processed.”
