I received a student loan early January. Will the irs take the money i got from my refund? Is this the reason why my refund maybe taking longer?? Someone help

Besides the fact that the processing of returns started a couple weeks late, the fact that some forms cannot be filed on time; the IRS is now also doing their due diligence in scrutinizing returns that either claim the EITC or educational credits.
Anyone who has either of these credits or both are taking a much longer time because of the increased effort to crack down on identity theft and those claiming credits they don’t deserve.
You are not alone. My 21 days is up Monday and I’m still processing with the statement I should have my return within 21 days of acceptance.
No DD yet. We just have to wait while they do their job, that’s all.

if your student loan isn’t past due they won’t take your refund.

They’d only take your refund toward your loan if it was in default status, which it isn’t if you just got the loan.
