Personal info to file taxes?

Asked by: Long 203 views YA Discussion

I know you need a birth cerificate as proof of who you are in order to file taxes, but my mother is being a fuddy duddy by not helping me get my birth certificate.

Also, my passport is expired, if I get a new one, can I use that to substitute my birth certificate for identification?

I live in in New Jersey, my birth certificate is in Brooklyn, NY.

How others found here:

  • do i need my birth certificate to fill my taxes
  • do you need your birth certificate to do taxes
  • my passport expired can I fill a tax return

You dont need your birth cert to file taxes….they go by your social security number and ID/drivers license card

You don’t need either to file. All you need is your Social Security number, Full name and valid address.
