Nope, it’s not. The IRS is delayed by at least a week and openly admits that WMR may not reflect your actual processing information. Calling them and asking seems to be hit or miss, talk to an operator, sometimes they seem to be able to find more accurate information, sometimes they can’t, depends on how much work ethic or how useless that particular employee is.

IRS Working To Resolve Issues Causing Delayed Refunds in 2012
The IRS has resolved the system issues within their new modernized e-file systems that affected more than one million taxpayer’s returns filed January 17 through January 26, and several million taxpayers between February 6 and 10. The IRS assures that all impacted tax returns that were affected are now in the processing cycle and are subject to the normal refund cycle of 10 to 21 days going forward from February 14.
For taxpayers who filed in early February and late January, this means the Where’s My Refund site should now have information including the original acknowledgement date, and should start accurately showing expected deposit dates.
The IRS had issues with their systems failing to update the IRS records of acknowledgement. Now it shows the acknowledgement date; IRS has placed the returns in the processing cycle and taxpayers due a refund are now in the normal processing cycle. Where’s My Refund at the IRS site and the 2012 Tax FAQ are now updating.

At this current time the Where is My Refund link is under construction. It appears that they are using a different software and because of that there has been a lot of confusion, so right now they are trying to ensure that the information displayed on the website is correct .It should be up and running in a couple of days. I am still waiting to find out my date, but it will come soon.

Yeah well I filed my taxes electronically on Feb 4th and got an email that the IRS had excepted my return for processing the same day. I have checked the “Where’s My Refund” site every other day since. It has never worked for me. The site states the problem will be fixed in a few days, come on its been weeks and still isn’t fixed.
Now when I call the IRS they tell me sorry we’re having problems with our system and my return is expected to have a March 6th deposit date. I guess I should be happy I got to talk to a live person, of course after waiting nearly an hour..

WMR is working, the IRS is just using this as an excuse because they are late with process filings. I e-filed on Feb 5th and I still have yet to see any status on WMR. I called the number and was told to call back on March 5th if I haven’t received my refund. Supposedly there is a 3-4 week delay from e-file date. This is what I was told.
I’m assuming since the IRS is late they are using WMR not working as an excuse for our delayed returns. It seems like when people actually receive a date on WMR that is when the actually processing begins. Once they DO actually start processing your return, THEN it will show up WMR.
