If your income tax is pulled for review by state, does that put a hold on your federal return?

Asked by: tmoran 1153 views YA Discussion

A friend just received a “Letter of Inquiry – Michigan Income Tax Review” asking them to send in a copy of W2 and Federal 1040. It says that after they send this info they could receive their refund in June at earliest. Does this include the federal return also?
I e-filed online so they should have gotten the federal information.

not likely your fed is affected by the state hold, but comply with their request, it sounds like you had schedules you should have included the federal return with the state when you originally filed
