I haven’t filed my taxes in 3 years?

Asked by: minchk 435 views YA Discussion

I have had jobs all 3 years and have paid all my taxes
from my pay checks usually a little higher than usual.
Will I get money back this year when I file? or are they
going to deduct money from me?

You had better file those returns ASAP or you might have MUCH MUCH bigger issues than a few bucks taken out of a refund.

    Ooops and Ouch.

u may get some money back after u pay the penalties.

    visit IRS.gov for info.

Hint it is better to pay /file them than have IRS come
after u . THAT is big time pain.

    1. There are no penalties if you are due a refund.

    2. You only have 3 years from the original filing deadline to request a refund. The deadline for 2009 is April 15, 2013. It’s too late for 2008 or earlier.

    3. If the IRS reckoned that you owed they would have been in touch by now so the odds that you owe are rather slim. They use assumptions most favorable to the government such as married filing separately, $ 0 standard deduction, etc.

You can’t e-file for years prior to 2012. You can download the forms from the IRS website, fill them out, and mail them in. Allow 12 – 16 weeks for any refunds for tax years 2011 and earlier. Prior year returns get low priority during tax season.

you need to get those returns filed
if you don’t get the 2009 filed by 4/15/2013 if it is due a refund you won’t get it, there is a limitation to the length of time for a refund
there is no way of knowing if you owe or are due a refund, you don’t provide enough information and I don’t believe anyone here is a magician or mind reader
