I had my tax return sent to a closed account?

Asked by: jbell 402 views YA Discussion

I do not use checks and i used the account number on my checks before i had my wallet stolen. I did not know the account number would change. So now what do i do? My taxes were not rejected and i received an e-mail saying I would have my tax return within two business days.

If the account is closed the bank will reject it and the IRS will issue a paper check in 4-6 weeks.

Bank sent the amount back to the FMS and NOW once they do get the amount BACK they will then issue out to you a paper check to be delivered to the address that you did enter on your 1040 income tax return during the 2013 tax filing season for this purpose. PATIENCE will be REQUIRED now while waiting the next 3,4,5, 6 weeks or more to get the check into your hands to use as you want at that time in your life.
Hope that you find the above enclosed information useful. 03/01/2013

The bank will reject the deposit and return it to the IRS. You’ll get a paper check in the mail in 4 – 6 weeks.

The bank WILL reject it if the account is closed… IRS will then issue a paper check & it will be mailed to the address on your return. Takes up to 6 weeks.

You can either call your bank and explain the situation to them. Or the bank is just going to reject the deposit and the IRS will issue you a paper check but it will take an even longer time to get. Probably like in May you’ll see it.
