how much is taxed on a $1000 bonus?

this year, i am starting to get a $ 1000 bonus a quarter at my company ($ 4000 total a year). how much in taxes will be taken out per bonus check, what will be the percentage? (trying to plan ahead)

    It depends on what tax bracket you’re in.
    Can’t answer that until we know how much you make, and I’m sure you don’t want to share that with everybody.
    It can be anywhere from 15-40%.

    Just gets tacked on to income, so depends on how much you’re already making and what tax bracket you’re in to start with.

    The bonus is taxed as ordinary income. For withholding purposes federal income tax is withheld at a statutory rate of 25%. If that’s too much, the excess will be refunded when you file your return. The normal FICA and state taxes are also withheld. Some states have a statutory withholding rate for bonuses and other irregular payments as well.

    It would be the same percent as your current withholding.
