How long do you have to work somewhere to get a W-2?

Asked by: minchk 318 views YA Discussion

If it’s the same everywhere, that is. We live in AZ so I don’t know if other places are different. Anyway, how long do you have to work somewhere before you get a W-2?

How others found here:

You should get one if you earned even one dollar–it doesn’t matter how long you worked there. Though if you only worked long enough to earn one dollar, you won’t owe any tax on it.

If you get any pay from an employer, you will get a 2012 Form W-2 by 1/31/2013.

1 minute. If you were on payroll your employer is legally obligated to give you a W2 no later than 1/31. If mailed it must be postmarked by 1/31. If they don’t you can contact the state employment agency and they will contact your employer and demand one.

I sent one out this year to someone who worked three hours.

If you make over 50 cents, they’re required to send you one.

Just start working for a employer as an employee for long enough to get paid for 30 for 15 minutes 30 minutes and receive a net take home pay check. They should send out to you a W-2 for your GROSS pay after the end of the tax year during the next tax filing season.
Hope that you find the above enclosed information useful. 01/23/2013
