How do I e-file more than 5 tax returns?

Asked by: jmlcpl 2305 views YA Discussion

I do tax returns for all my family members and a few close friends. I bought TaxAct and after 5 returns, it says I have reached my maximum number of e-files. What do I do? Is there nothing I can do? One website said I can install it on a 2nd computer. Does it use my IP address to determine how many returns I’ve filed?
Well, no I have not accepted payment, and I have not yet done my friend’s returns, so I guess I am still OK. But they don’t know what they are doing, and I do. This rule is ridiculous.

So I have to have them buy the software, install it on their computers, and then I go to their house and do it?

yes u’ll need to use an other computer
and set up a new account.
beware u can have tax problems from
IRS for doing others (even family) returns.
especially the third party filing section.

    You haven’t accepted payment, right?

Even so, you’ve already broken the EULA since it only covered you and your immediate family, NOT your close friends.

    1. You have to buy commercial software.
    2. You must have whatever certification your state requires.

Using personal software for more than it is intended is theft.
