From what Ive heard when it says a date will be provided it means that a letter Is going to be mailed probably an audit or wanting receipts from what I heard as long as the bars up there then that’s good if not then its not good

I am not sure, but I don’t think it is closer than getting an actual date for when it will be direct deposited or mailed out. Not trying to be the one with a negative answer but my son’s refund said that for several days last year then he finally got an actual “pending status”.

Apparently we are in the middle of budget limbo – the IRS isn’t in any rush to process refunds. Even though the IRS issues most refunds in less than 21 days, it’s possible your tax return may require longer. I’ve usually got a notice within 4 days that it was accepted and I am on day 6 now. I don’t see anything yet.

There is a tool the IRS has called Where’s My Refund? The tool will include a tracker that displays progress through 3 stages: (1) Return Received, (2) Refund Approved and (3) Refund Sent.

@RYAN IS WRONG!I am in the same situation as you. I called this morning and got a very helpful and pleasant man that said if anything was wrong an error code would come up on the wmr and a phone number would be provided. so I will sit tight until after my 21 days which would be Wednesday.
btw when I check the wmr it says processing a dd date will be provided when available

I have not received a letter yet but…
I got the new screen on the WMR today and got ahold of someone in accounts. They said the reason I am getting it is because my return is been delayed to check accuracy. Whatever that means and could take an additional 45-60 days to finish the process and my refund will be held until they are done. He didn’t say they needed more info and if they did I would get a second letter requesting it. I file the same way every single year with the same deductions and credits every single year so no clue why they are stalling now. So I am assuming it is the IRS way of holding up our refunds even longer or a stall tactic because the 21 days is in 2 days and they do not have them done yet. This is absolutely rediculous.
I just figured I would share what info I got for the supposed reasoning behind the new screen because a lot of other people are getting the same screen now on the WMR website.
