Anyone else have their return accepted today?

Asked by: fgr8out 1673 views YA Discussion

I filed on 1/18 with taxact and got a message today that both my federal and state return have been accepted today. Yes really accepted. I know it’s supposed to the 30th but the IRS is accepting some now – test run I guess, and I lucked out. Just curious to see how many other people have been accepted.
No tro you are WRONG. Youre a top contributor – do some research! The IRS REALLY IS accepting some early as a test run. Stop telling people lies. Yes, generally, returns will be accepted starting the 30th but the IRS IS doing some now. Here’s the message I got – copied and pasted:

Federal Return Status:
Accepted

Federal Return Acceptance Information:
This federal electronic return has been successfully filed. It was accepted by the Internal Revenue Service(IRS) on 1/25/2013.

Submission ID: ___________ (I’m not posting that number here, sorry)

You have elected to pay your filing fees out of your refund and therefore your refund will be processed through Republic Bank. By choosing this option, your fees will be deducted from your refund and the remainder will be deposited to the bank account entered in your return. Based upon information from the IRS, you can generally expect your refund in less than 21 days. If you would like more precise information about your refun
refund status, you can go to the IRS Where’s My Refund web page. You can start checking the status of your refund within 24 hours after you have e-filed your return. An actual personalized refund date will be provided as soon as the IRS processes your return and approves your refund. Updates to refund status are made daily – usually at night. TaxACT does not have additional information concerning your refund status.

As part of controlled IRS testing, a small number of federal returns will be transmitted to the IRS between January 23 and January 29, 2013. This is before processing officially begins on January 30. If you receive an acknowledgement during this timeframe, your return has been accepted by the IRS but your refund will not be processed early.

If you expect a federal refund, the IRS Where’s My Refund? tool will provide personalized information about your tax return beginning January 30. The timeframe for issuing refunds will not begin before this date.

They may have accepted it, but they’re not sending out any refunds until Feb 1.

    Due the Dec fiscal cliff.
    IMO – fraudulent returns.

The IRS IS accepting returns early due to testing. However, it was said that the refunds would not be processed earlier than Jan 30th. Evidently, that is wrong because several people have reported receiving their refunds today.
