Code 1121 is just like an audit. Your tax return was “red flagged” for some reason ( did you get audited before and owe the IRS money?)
They take their sweet old time reviewing your return.
Keep calling the phone # they have listed

Actually, the IRS is not all that quick to collect. Most errors won’t trigger a collection notice much before Thanksgiving and it typically takes upwards of 6 months after they assess additional tax before they take enforced collection actions. For routine audits, they have 3 years to challenge an item so it can be more than 4 years before they collect once the dust has settled. By comparison, even a 2 month delay in getting a refund is lightning fast by IRS standards.

Code 1211 is a generic delay code that the IRS will use when they don’t want to publicize the reason for the delay yet. You’ll just have to wait it out.
